Stephanie (Bennis) Shirley

married Scott Shirley ('03 Eng and '04 MS Eng) on Aug. 4, 2012. Stephanie is the founder and CEO of Bennis Public Relations Inc. Scott is the executive director of the national non-profit Uplifting Athletes, which works with college football teams to raise money for rare disease research. They currently reside near Harrisburg, Pa., and are expecting their first child in June 2013.

married Eric Erb on Sept. 24, 2016, in Philadelphia. She and her husband live and work in New York City, where she is a client experience manager in the pharmaceutical advertising department at Phreesia, a healthcare technology company.

Stacey Federoff

was honored with the Rising Star Award at the 2020 Rennaissance Awards hosted by PRSA Pittsburgh. Nominees for the award have less than five years public relations experience, which is true, since she is studying public relations in the concurrent M.A. in communications and M.B.A. program at Point Park University. There, she leads the revived Graduate Student Association as president. Federoff spent eight years as a journalist in the Pittsburgh region before becoming graduate assistant at the Point Park Center for Media Innovation. She also serves on the board of PRSA Pittsburgh as web content manager.

Rachel Guldin, Ph.D.

coauthored the book “Language Arts in Action: Engaging Secondary Students with Journalistic Strategies“ (Norton Professional Books).

The book presents an instructional model based on journalism skills that taps into student agency to develop communication skills.

Guldin, an assistant professor at Denison University, earned her bachelor's degree at Penn State in media studies in 2009 and her master's degree in 2011.

is an Army Captain with 2/19th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and is currently stationed at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Floirda. He is associate director for Dedicated Endeavors, a 501c3 charity that focuses on mental health.

married Bridget Monaghan ('09 Journ/Lib) in October. They first met in The Daily Collegian office, where Bridget worked in the arts section and Andrew in sports. Bridget is a lawyer with Monaghan-Wible Law and funeral director with Oliver Bair/Monaghan Funeral Homes. Andrew is the senior manager, rights, licensing and partnerships with Wolters Kluwer Health.

married Greg Popenhusen-Rowe ('09 Eng) on June 29, 2013. Kristen is the librarian at Hopewell High School in Aliquippa, Pa. Greg is a process engineer at ATI Allegheny Ludlum in Latrobe, Pa. They reside near Pittsburgh.

    Seth Bradley

    was promoted to director of featuring programming and original content for the New York Jets.

    Bradley, a seven-time Emmy award winner, joined the team in 2014. During his tenure, he has helped develop and grow the Jets brand by telling the stories of the players, coaches and fans. He led the production of award-winning docuseries and has helped to transform 1JD Films into one of the best storytelling units in the NFL.

During her three years with the agency, she led the development and implementation of public relations and social media programs for corporations, hospitals, law firms and not-for-profit organizations.

    has co-founded Beachwood Entertainment Collective, a full-service entertainment public relations company with a focus on music, film and talent. Based in Los Angeles, she serves as the vice president of the company, overseeing legendary clients like Brian Wilson (co-founder of The Beach Boys), actor Jeff Bridges, Sublime (estate), actor Bruce Greenwood and others. The company also develops music documentaries and manages up-and-coming independent bands and artists.

    is the research misconduct and conflict of interest assistant at the Office for Research Protections at Penn State. In May 2014 she married fellow alum John Matthews ('94 ERM) who is the bass player and vocalist in Penn State's famous party band, Velveeta. They live in State College, Pennsylvania.

    was recently promoted to VP, Production of DEFY Media. In that role, he oversees the physical production for a number of ongoing new media properties, including SMOSH, Break, AweMe, SMOSH Games, GameTrailers, Clevver, MadeMan and Screen Junkies. He also manages production for a mulitude branded opportunities, working with clients such as Coke, Nivea, T-Mobile, Barefoot Wines, Jack Links, HP and Sony to deliver commericial programming for various avenues of distribution. Before his promotion, Hiner worked as a line producer, producer and production manager at Break Media. Prior to that, he worked as a production manager for National Banana, a website and online prodtion company created by Jerry Zucker ("Airplane," "Ghost," "Top Secret!").

Rao has been with O’Neill Communications since December 2013, most recently serving as vice president of account services. As an award-winning journalist, she previously worked for the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Khabar Magazine and Jezebel Magazine. She is on the board of directors of the Spruill Center for the Arts, Hands on Atlanta Changemakers and is active in both TiE Atlanta and the Georgia Indo-American Chamber of Commerce.
